Deborah Kantrowitz
Cohort 4 Alum - 2024-2025
Deborah is a third-grade teacher at The School at Columbia University in New York City. A lifelong educator with over 30 years of experience, she has served as a classroom teacher, learning specialist, and project-based learning teacher across public, charter, and independent schools.
Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom—she frequently leads professional development for teachers, school psychologists, and summer camp staff. Deborah also provides tutoring in academics and executive functioning and works closely with families to build parenting skills that support peaceful, nurturing home environments.
A certified 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and mindfulness practitioner, Deborah integrates practices of awareness and balance into both her personal and professional life. She is committed to fostering resilience, creativity, and well-being in children and adults alike.
Outside of teaching, Deborah divides her time between New York City and northwestern Connecticut, where she enjoys gardening, DIY house projects, fiber arts, painting, hiking, paddle boarding, and spending time with her three grown children.
Her approach to life and education reflects a deep belief in lifelong learning, holistic development, and the interconnectedness of inner calm and outer impact.
