Karen Sanchez-Griego

Karen is the Superintendent of Cuba Independent Schools is leading district wide redesign to support the landmark case of Yazzie/Martinez, ensuring that the students receive an equitable academic education using a systems approach.  She worked on the Navajo Nation as Superintendent of schools, The New Mexico Public Education Department, Assistant Director of Educator Quality, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction (Arlington Public Schools), she was the first principal of Atrisco Heritage High School. Dr. Sanchez-Griego was the former Executive Director of ENLACE “ENgaging Latino Communities for Education” New Mexico.  She holds a BA in Secondary Education with teaching endorsements in English, History, and Special Ed, an MA and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D). She was selected as one of New Mexico’s 20 Women Making a Difference in Education; and is a recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding New Mexico Women.
