Kelly Knoche
Kelly Knoche taught math, science and socio-emotional learning (SEL) for six years in public schools in Oakland. During her time as a young educator, she was humbled by the craft as well as the community she served and vowed to learn the emotional skills needed to be a successful member of her community. Over the course of her time as an educator she studied trauma informed practices, mindfulness, equitable processes and created a donation based yoga class for educators. In her last two years in the classroom she created a CASEL recognized middle school project-based SEL program that continues to be implemented at her previous site. In 2015, she left the classroom to birth The Teaching Well, an organization committed to creating thriving school systems through adult well-being and healthy communication. The organization has supported over 700 educators in connecting to and prioritizing their own well-being, in turn transforming their school sites, communication and student outcomes.
