Leila Lurie
Cohort 4 Alum - 2024-2025
Leila Lurie is a Puerto Rican and Jewish psychotherapist and complex trauma specialist born and raised in New York City, living in the Bay Area of California for the past 30 years. Leila has been working as a school-based therapist , serving as the district Social Emotional Learning Curriculum Lead, for 24 years within the Fremont Union High School District, located in Sunnyvale, California. Additionally, Leila serves as Secretary for Coastpride, an LGBTQ+ non-profit organization.
Leila is passionate about serving and witnessing the power of healing and walking beside youth - particularly youth of color and those whose intersectional identities lie in communities who have been oppressed - as well as adults within the school system, to drive transformational change in our schools and communities.
Leila continually asks the question: How do we call people in and harness strengths to heal and transform systems, communities and individuals?
